Here at St. Eval, we are blessed to be located in Cornwall's beautiful natural landscape. The 5th of March holds special significance as St. Piran’s Day, where we celebrate the magical wonders that the great Saint created and rediscovered. Legend has it, upon arriving on the Cornish coast, St Piran stumbled upon the discovery of tin, a pivotal moment that propelled tin mining into becoming one of Cornwall’s leading industries for centuries. This discovery also led to the creation of the iconic black-white flag, now synonymous with Cornwall itself.

Today marks the start of Plastic Free July, an initiative of the Plastic Free Foundation working towards their incredible vision of a world free of plastic waste. Inspired by nature and our beautiful surroundings here in Cornwall, we are passionate about reducing our plastic consumption. We're so proud to have our efforts recognised by Surfers Against Sewage who awarded us Plastic Free Champions status in our local community. Spring is finally here, and with Easter fast approaching it's the perfect chance to spend some quality time with those that we love. As we gather for special family dinners and days spent enjoying the warmer weather, it's a wonderful time to wow your nearest and dearest with gorgeous Easter displays. Whether you're getting everyone together for a home cooked meal around the dining table, or you're planning an al fresco dinner out in the sun; tablescaping is a wonderfully easy way to add a special finishing touch to the proceedings. B Corp Month has been an amazing opportunity to not only celebrate this milestone achievement in our sustainability journey, but also to share more about what it truly means to be a B Corporation. We're closing out the month by thinking on how we can all go beyond, incorporating the B Corp movement into our daily lives in order to have an impact.

Achieving our verified status as a B Corporation in August 2022 was an incredible milestone in our sustainability journey; a journey that has spanned nearly 30 years, since St. Eval was first founded. We are still maintaining the same traditional methods of candle making and finding inspiration in the stunning Cornish coast and countryside around us. With this beautiful source of inspiration right on our doorstep, we are constantly inspired and see it as our great duty and privilege to be able to go beyond, giving back to nature and protecting the world around us.

Last June we were delighted to unveil our brand new pond area, and wildlife haven here on our farm at St. Eval. Happy Habitats, a local Cornish company specialising in habitat management, worked with us to create a unique area full of specially selected species, and their exceptional knowledge and enthusiasm for the project blew us away. We sat down with Angie Cruse, one of Happy Habitat's directors, to learn more about her passion for the environment and the special work she did here at St. Eval.

We are honoured to have won Most Sustainable Organisation at the 2022 Cornwall Sustainability Awards! People and planet lie at the very heart of St. Eval, and Cornwall's close connection with the coast, countryside and nature is deeply rooted in everything we do as a business. In 2015 we were so proud to win Best Managed Medium Business at the CSA, and we are honoured to receive this latest award and be recognised by our Cornish community in this way; it's a true testament to our team who are the driving force behind our success in sustainability.
