Proud to be B Corp™

St. Eval - B Corp

We are so proud to announce our certification as a B Corporation (or B Corp), joining a growing group of companies reinventing business by pursuing purpose as well as profit.

What is B Corp?

B Corp is one of the most respected – and hardest to achieve – sustainability certifications, and is the only certification that is not for a product or service, but for the business behind the product or service.

In order to become a certified B Corp a business must be certified by B Lab, the not-for-profit behind the B Corp movement, as having met rigorous social and environmental standards which represent their commitment to goals outside of shareholder profit.

But B Corp is much more than just a certification – it’s a global movement of like-minded organisations who want to use their business as a force for good.

What becoming a Certified B Corporation means to us

At St. Eval we have been pioneering ethical and sustainable business since 1993. B Corp Certification gave us the opportunity to reflect on that journey and identify new opportunities to do things better – for our team, our customers, our community and the planet. It also helps us communicate and verify our purpose to create an environment that enriches people's lives.

Becoming a certified B Corp is a huge achievement for us; it represents the innovative spirit of our company and the many people, past and present, who have driven it forward while remaining true to their values and to those of St. Eval. Now more than ever, the world needs companies committed to achieving sustainable and inclusive growth.

Community

As a business, we are honoured to be able to give back to the community by giving our support to the charities and projects who need it most. We have a dedicated charity committee made up of employees from across the business, and we support local charities and those further afield.

Each month we donate our nature-inspired products to bring moments of happiness to those who need it most.

Our community impact is further supported by volunteering throughout the year with a local charity close to our hearts, People & Gardens C.I.C. Each summer a member of the St. Eval team gets the opportunity to spend a day supporting the team with various tasks, from weeding and planting to harvesting vegetables.

We also support our local foodbanks, where we match employee giving with cash donations.

Planet

Treading softly on the earth is one of our three core values. All our facility energy is sustainably sourced, with the majority of it being produced onsite via wind, solar and biomass, helping to reduce our carbon footprint and impact on the environment. We are constantly searching for ways to reduce our carbon footprint and make our products more sustainable.

We aim to be Net Zero by 2030, and we are well on track to achieve this ambitious target, with many initiatives to support this goal, including expanding our solar power portfolio and eliminating plastic from all diffuser and candle products.

People

Our mission is to create a company that people can trust and believe in; a business that people want to work for, buy from and collaborate with.

We are working hard to create a representative, inclusive and friendly team, because we know that different experiences, perspectives and backgrounds make for a better workplace and that creates a better experience for our customers.

In 2021 we became a certified real Living Wage employer, a Mindful Employer and deployed our first employee assistance program. 2021 was also the year we began our employee engagement surveys, the three areas we are currently scoring highest in are:

What next for St. Eval?

We are delighted to have achieved an overall B Impact score of 85.3, but for us this is just the beginning. We have set ambitious targets for recertification in 2025 with the aim of increasing our score by 10 points and then pushing on to achieve Net Zero by 2030.
