Reuse and Repurpose with St. Eval

Reuse and Repurpose with St. Eval

Candles can instantly make a house a home. The soft and cosy glow of candlelight and fresh, uplifting scents have the power to automatically transform any room.  But when you’re finished with your favourite candle and left with an empty pot, there’s a whole new lease of life just waiting for it! An empty candle container is full of possibility, no matter what the size.

Here at St. Eval, when we design our candles, we keep in mind that the product's lifetime goes beyond when the wax is finished so you are left with a beautiful container to repurpose afterwards. Here are some of our favourite ways to repurpose your St. Eval candle containers.

(Please remember to remove all remaining wax – and wick – first and dispose of in the bin, not in the sink: wax will clog your drain very easily!)

  1. Planters

Want to add a little greenery to your home? Why not use old candle pots to grow spring bulbs! Our Large Hedgerow pots are the perfect size for this. These flowers will last longer than cut ones, and you’ll have the satisfaction of knowing that you grew them yourself. Or alternatively, bring a little nature into your home easily by repotting your favourite plant, succulent or cacti, they make a great addition to an empty windowsill and breathe life into the home.

Our tin candles repurposed make lovely small plant holders. This lovely image was shared by Emma (@emmagrowsthings) on Instagram – how amazing does it look?

Our large pots such as Hedgerow pictured, make the perfect planters for house plants and succulents, or in the garden too! This lovely image was shared by Jen (@wembley.willows) on Instagram.

  1. Store spare change

Why not leave an empty holder by the front door or on your dresser to drop your spare change into? Then once a month, count your change and take it to the bank or buy yourself a treat! Our terracotta tealight holders are perfect for holding spare change, simply stop and drop and watch your fortune grow.

  1. Desk storage

With most of us working from home, why not turn your candle pot into a desk tidy and keep your desk space organised and stylish. Filled with your favourite pens, pencils or paperclips, you’ll never misplace a pen again!

  1. A pretty vase

One of the easiest ways to reuse your candle pot is to transform it into a pretty vase. From clippings from your garden or wild flowers on a country walk, it’s a quick and cost-effective way to indulge in fresh flowers for your home.

Our Large Geranium pot in our Garden of Eden Collection makes a perfect vase for your flowers and the pretty leaf embossed pattern adds a touch of botanical elegance to the room.

Our Victorian Herb Collection is home to sweet terracotta pots which are a lovely earthy addition to the home filled with pretty garden clippings. This lovely photo was shared by Susan (@oopsaditsy) on Instagram.

  1. New candle holder

Pretty terracotta and ceramic tealight candles also make the perfect holder for a new tealight, simply clean the holder once the candle has finished and place a new candle inside. This is a great way of displaying your   tealights and trying new scents too.

  1. Outdoor Lighting

If you are feeling really creative, you could create an outdoor masterpiece like Diane! Carefully remove the label and punch holes in our candle tins to decorate in beautiful patterns, string these together and add a tealight to create amazing outdoor lighting for your garden. We LOVE this idea! Thank you to Diane on Instagram (@dianewright8132019) for the inspiration.

Here at St. Eval, our candles are designed with the environment in mind. We tread softly on the earth, respecting and renewing. As a result, we encourage you all to reuse your St. Eval candle pots and tins. There is a whole new lease of life just waiting for them. We’d love to hear from you how you reuse yours, please share with us on social @stevalcandles, or via email marketing@st-eval.com.
