B Corp Month | Let's All Go Beyond

B Corp Month | Let's All Go Beyond

B Corp Month has been an amazing opportunity to not only celebrate this milestone achievement in our sustainability journey, but also to share more about what it truly means to go beyond as a B Corporation.

We're closing out the month by thinking about how we can all go beyond, incorporating the B Corp movement into our daily lives in order to have an impact.

How can the B Corp Movement help us to go beyond?

One of the best ways that we can become advocates for change is by educating ourselves about the challenges facing our planet, and it's a great idea to also learn more about what the B Corporation movement is. The B Corp UK website itself has some really informative pages here, where you can read in detail about what it takes for a company to achieve the certification.

B Corp is one of the most respected – and hardest to achieve – sustainability certifications, and is the only certification that is not for a product or service, but for the business behind the product or service.

In order to become a certified B Corp a business must be certified by B Lab, the not-for-profit behind the B Corp movement, as having met rigorous social and environmental standards which represent their commitment to goals outside of shareholder profit.

Looking out for the B Corp Certification when we're deciding which businesses to support is a great way to be sure that you're choosing those who are striving to go beyond the norm, putting people and planet first. By staying mindful of who we’re shopping with and supporting, and the impact that they have on their community and environment, we can all be changemakers.

How will we continue to go beyond at St. Eval?

St. Eval B Corp Plaque

For us here at St. Eval our B Corp certification and our B Impact Score of 85.3 has been an amazing recognition of our sustainable ethos, but it is by no means the end of the hard work. We have set ambitious targets for recertification in 2025 with the aim of increasing our score by 10 points and then pushing on to achieve Net Zero by 2030.

By working together we can achieve the systemic change that we pursue, going beyond the current norm to create a better world where businesses place people and the planet above profit.
