Celebrating World Bee Day

In a quiet corner of our Cornish home, nestled by the pond and framed by wild grasses, something beautiful has arrived.

This World Bee Day, we're marking a milestone that feels close to our hearts: the installation of two Rocket Bee Hives here on the farm at St Eval. Sanctuaries for our native wild bees, and a quiet but meaningful addition to the landscape we cherish.

Unlike traditional hives, the Rocket Hive isn't designed for harvesting honey. It's a haven, hand-built and thoughtfully crafted to offer shelter, safety, and the conditions that wild bees naturally seek. Part sculpture, part symbol, each hive sits gently in the landscape.

Our connection to the natural world has always guided everything we do, from the wildflowers and coastal landscapes that inspire our fragrances, to the way we care for the fields, hedgerows and wildlife that surround us here in North Cornwall.

The arrival of these hives is a continuation of that. A small but meaningful step toward nurturing the biodiversity that sustains and inspires us.

When we installed the first hive, we didn't have to wait long for a response. Within minutes, wild bees arrived, curious, purposeful, as if they'd known all along this space was theirs. It was a quietly extraordinary moment. A reminder that nature is always ready to respond when we make room for it.

We believe that even the smallest actions carry weight. That caring for the land we call home sends a ripple outward. Into the ecosystem. Into the community. Into the way we think about what it means to be a business rooted in the natural world.

These hives are a symbol of that belief. A place where wild bees can thrive, undisturbed, as the seasons unfold around them.

As we mark World Bee Day this year, we find ourselves feeling grateful - for this land, for the creatures that share it with us, and for the reminder that sometimes, all it takes is an open heart and a place to land.
