Earth Day: A Moment to Notice, A Commitment to Keep
Earth Day began as a pause. A moment to step back, to look at the world around us, and to recognise just how extraordinary, and how fragile, it truly is. More than fifty years on, that pause feels more important than ever.
Here at St Eval, we have never needed to look far for that reminder. Our farm sits on the clifftops of North Cornwall, shaped by Atlantic winds, shifting tides and the slow turning of the seasons. It is a place where barn owls sweep low over the hedgerows at dusk, where wild bees hum through the wildflowers, where harvest mice thread through the grassland and hedgehogs shelter quietly in the undergrowth. The landscapes around us shape everything we create.

Rooted in the Natural World
Every fragrance we craft is born from this landscape. The salt of the sea breeze, the wildflower meadows, the cool green of the moors and woodlands - these are the scents that have inspired us for over three decades, and they are the reason we feel such a deep responsibility to care for the world that gives them to us.
That care shows up in lots of ways - from powering our manufactory through wind, solar and biomass energy, to the habitats we are nurturing here on the farm for birds, pollinators and wildlife of all kinds. It shows up in our three-year partnership with Cornwall Wildlife Trust, as we work together towards the first ever licensed wild release of beavers into the Cornish landscape at Helman Tor - a rewilding project that we are immensely proud to be part of.
We are incredibly fortunate to be guided in this journey by our sustainability consultant, Chris Hines - co-founder of Surfers Against Sewage and former Sustainability Director of The Eden Project. Chris has spent over thirty years championing the idea that caring for the planet and running a good business are not in conflict. His wisdom and challenge help us to keep asking the right questions, and to make sure our efforts are always moving forward.

A Small Act. A Shared World.
Caring for this planet is not one action, or one day. It is something we return to in every decision we make - in the materials we choose, the energy we use, the land we tend, and the partnerships we keep.
This Earth Day, we invite you to take a moment of your own. Light a candle. Step outside. Notice what's growing, what's singing, what's quietly present. A small act. A moment to reconnect with what we share, and what we stand to protect.
That connection is at the heart of everything St Eval has ever been. And it's a commitment we intend to keep for a very long time to come.
Happy Earth Day, from all of us at St Eval.
