Geranium has a rich history in natural medicine, myth and folklore and with its plethora of different species there's no shortage of tales to be told about this interesting flower.

Symbolising happiness and friendship, geraniums are often chosen as housewarming gifts for these cheerful qualities. In Floriography - the 'language of flowers' which dates back to Victorian times - each type of geranium has its own distinct meaning. While pink geraniums symbolise romance, white geraniums are said to be a powerful protective plant symbolising innocence and purity. According to English folklore, geraniums have a deep-rooted history in the world of myth, magic and mysticism and they have been a staple ingredient in a number of magical spells. Geranium tea has long been brewed as a powerful love potion, its roots were often worn around the neck for a protection charm, and it is said that brushing rose geranium leaves on windows and doors keeps your home guarded against intrusion.

Celebrated for its antibacterial and antioxidant properties, geranium is multi-purpose plane and its benefits range far beyond its aesthetic value. Over the centuries geraniums have been used across many different cultures in herbal healing, and its oils have been used to ease pain and treat ailments, ranging from anxiety and depression to more generalised infections.
